His Snowflake

He floated through the sky, everywhere else and everything else when
a
tiny
shiver
ran down His molecules
and so shed from him a
tiny
sliver
of
Him
-self.
And this tiny sliver, this flake, this completely unique image
started falling and looked up at his Magnificent Self as his brothers and sisters fell next to him. And he heard,
"My Children, come back to Me in your time, pure and untainted so that We may become one again."

And the Cloud drifted through sky and some children came back right away, evaporating under the bright sun.
And others joined the streams and rivers and oceans.
A few special ones became the blood and sweat and tears as they gave life, and became life itself.

And off the stems and hot breath of lifeforms of creation the molecules did return to the sky and so too did the flake
completely free of earthly matters.

And then he and his siblings became one with the Father again.

How One Finds The North Star

This is a story I made for a creative writing class I'm taking. I know this isn't exactly current events but art can either reflect or shape the world and I hope mine is the latter. Of course I realize that I'm just a student, I have not the power and recognition of established authors. This is just a little gift to whoever wants to read.

How One Finds The North Star part 1

Jerald was bored that day. For three days now nothing out of the ordinary had happened, his assignment, a boy of about age 16 did his usual duties and played video games when he thought no one was looking. The temperature outside was a blistering 125, so hot even climate control was starting to malfunction. Jerald was tempted to go into autopilot, let the computer take care of things. As he reached for the pad on his forearm, Boss came in over his thoughts.
"Jerry, any news?"
"It's Jerald, Boss."
"Shut up. I'll get someone to kill your weird jacket --- too." Boss was referring to his retro 2150 jacket.
"Yeah okay. No news, I honestly think that this lady backed off."
"Well you know what to do Jerry."
Boss was a mafia man, he had lived probably longer than anyone else in the city. He was one of the first to get life extension surgery, while it was still illegal. He was definitely upwards of 175, his birth records were falsified. No one he knew had ever seen him. Boss stayed under ground to avoid the detrimental effects of the heat on his system, some said he was all machine but his brain. That would certainly explain the energy and colorful language Jerald had heard. Only a computer can do that for a brain of 175 years. He gazed outside the tinted windows, he could see the Chugach mountains. According to rumors that's where Boss hid himself. The mountains were cool on the inside and it kept him close to the wireless towers. Jerald reached for the button again and hoped that Boss wouldn't interrupt, when the assignment walked up to him.
"Lemme guess, boss in your head?"
Jerald was startled, he thought the kid was supposed to just ignore him, cybernetic businessmen sat in Fisher's Robotics Lab all the time for the climate control. Or had he given himself away? Jerald's thoughts were interrupted yet again only this time by Lucy, the CPU. You shouldn't be wearing that unorthodox jacket. Chapter 78.098 says that it is best to disguise oneself as whatever the target has summoned you as...
"I bet it's a pain, huh? Like you head doesn't even belong to you."
"I'm busy kid..." And if you enter the calm expression code 5623, target will assume that you are a benign object in the field of his/her...
"I can fix that for a small fee, you know, give you back your head."
Jerald thought about this, it was actually a beautiful suggestion, but Boss had resources. He'd find out. But if he could shut up computer support that'd be great. Generally it is unwise to choose to continue speaking to target and it is better to leave in as nonchalant form if possible and to contact Boss immediately. Just press 9970 to listen to what I told you again or...."Can you keep this fix real secret from the sending and receiving end?"
The kid frowned in thought. "How secret are we talking here?"
Chapter 23.717 states that prolonged communication with the target is unwise for this type of mission because the target may remember you, and therefore notice you in the future when... "I need to be able to shut out my CPU control and my bosses voice without him finding out."
"Do you use audio or Thoughtwave?
Press 1098 to contact mission... "It's Thoughtwave"
"How often to you have to reply?"
This information has been brought to you by Northern Cybernetics..."Just when my boss talks. The CPU streams some unwanted data back to the big guy too."
"I can do it but it's going to cost you, this is going to take a special program I don't normally use and DoubleU."
"Is that an acronym? Connecting you to success©!
"No it's program for managing and creating information to fool bosses and overprotective women."
"Women?"
"Yeah, that's where a lot of my business comes from. Some women have been using these systems to keep constant tabs on their husbands."
"Will this work on a real business? I'm being bothered by people with a little bit more at their disposal than a housewife."
"Not a problem I stole my version from the P.I.S. (Pangaia Information Service)."

Song Meanings

I recently subscribed to this site and it is perfect for my wandering mind. They list lyrics to songs with commentary of users trying to interpret them. There is nothing I love more than trying to fing the deeper meaning of things, i often manage to dive at least 35 feet below where the real meaning ends but I often sound intelligent anyway. Just a couple moments ago I was listening to The Boy with the Arab Strap, and a unique idea hit me that this guy is talking (or singing) to himself. The other seventeen comments talk about the more obvious and likely ideas and are probably right, but to have a nice place to stick in my own two cents is somehow deeply gratifying.

That's where I make my point. Right there. This internet culture of self-expression is a unique communications tool. People can purge the strangest thoughts that they might normally tell no one, or the thoughts everyone is too busy to hear. And it doesn't matter. I am not the supplier, I am the consumer on this site reaping the rewards of catharsis in exchange for viewing a couple ads and some typing. And the knowledge that someone might eventually hear these words, even a complete stanger, makes this blog worthwhile.

And the effects that this technology has on the bigger picture, the weirdness of mankind is revealed to the world. An entirely unique cluster of minicultures is forming, isolated from the competition of the real world, like a small pine given sunlight in the middle of a hardwood forest. What does this mean for the real world exactly, will it cease to exist beyond the consumerism that feeds our functioning. Will we now leave our homes only to shop at Walmart and work? Is society hiding from his annoying neighbor in favor of the peers and similar intrests on the internet? I hope it doesn't come to that

A Strange Indiffernece For Israel's side

Yesterday, in retaliation to the Hamas rockets launched into Israel, Israeli airplanes bombed the homes of multiple members of Hamas, including Nizar Rayan, a man in the organization's higher echelon. Nearby homes were destroyed in the process however the occupants were warned of the strike beforehand and escaped. The man's four wives and 9 out of the ten children he had left (two of his sons were suicide bombers) died in the air strike. Isreal is at war once again and nobody seems to notice. The picture ran in associated press articles displayed an Israeli woman protesting her own nations choice to retaliate.

Normally I wouldn't have paid much attention. Israel is fighting to regain the Gaza strip. What else is new? But the woman caught my attention. Why would she protest? Hamas has been arranging to make a map without Israel since 1987. They have injected their suicide bombers into Israel, invoking fear and driving the Israelis out their homes and businesses. All of that and this woman is against her govt.'s air strike?

Small protests are popping up all over the globe outside of Israeli embassies and government buildings. (Which I also find strange since President Elect Barack Obama has refrained from blaming the Bush administration for anything bryond the federal deficit and the invasion of Iraq. Apparently it's still fashionable to blame George Bush for everything bad in the universe.) People seem to forget that Hamas has been smuggling arms into homes and public infrastructure. People seem to forget the rockets that were launched at Israel only several weeks ago. This is war and Hamas is literally hiding behind schools and civilians in this war. If mortar is flying out of a large building upon your soldiers, you had better do something about it. The Hamas govt. is literally taking its children hostage by taking this war to the interior of the city. This international sympathy is exactly what it wants too. It is a cowardly decision and in effect the world has forgotten why Israel is in Gaza. All we know is that Israel is killing kids, and the papers focus on that.

Barack Obama, Legit or Illegit? Does It Matter?

Despite what Philip Berg has to say and whatever abilities with Adobe Photoshop the Barack Obama campaign crew may possess, let us consider what would happen if Barack Obama were impeached on grounds of his birth. (By the way he probably won't be. The Supreme Court has recently dismissed the case.) The first problem that presents itself is the timing of this inquiry. Obama isn't some obscure canidate currently running for office. He's the President elect, so the problem is already six monthes late to be addressed. More so if you consider the two years he has spent campaigning.

So what if he's President elect? Should that exempt him from the law? In this case, yes. Obama can't help where he was born. It's not like he been sleeping around or taking bribes. While the laws that prevents foriegners from running for office is necessary to protect our sovereignty, we have bigger problems to deal with. This is no time to squabble over leadership. This is a time get things done, to reverse the deadly spiral of debt in this country. To impeach Barack Obama would be to postpone all the problems America must address in the time it takes to elect a new President. Or if it's decided that the seat should go to Joe Biden or George Bush, the time it takes to go through an impeachment process. In any case, who would oversee the auto bailout? How much tax money would a fresh election cost us? How might our economic problems complicate thamselves before someone can take office?

Beyond the tangible implications of impeaching Obama, nearly as imposing are the social ones. It is well beyond the time to question his birth, so anything done now would appear to be the cries of sore losers with an agenda. As of today it warrants a couple eye rolls out of the left wing. When such a venture succeeds, Pandora's box is opened as the right wing is accused of racism, usurping and just being jerks. The precedent that such a action would leave would be justification for impeachment over the most minor of infractions. (You thinking Clinton?) Now when we have voted for a black President for the first time, it would be so unwise to remove him now when he is protected by the anti-racial sentiments of the people.

The best thing to do with the President elect's birthright is to simply turn the other way, legit or not. I hate to suggest something so nefarious but there is no way to pursue the issue with damaging this country. If he should push legislation to change the Constitution, then by all means we should block it (or rather tell our representatives to block it). Conservatives should let Obama make the first move. In future elections we can examine birth certificates early in political races and push legislation to prevent donations from foriegn sources. Until then, the Supreme Court was right to deny the case. America needs surgery before it can worry about a sliver.

Testing

This is my personal blog from which I will convey my interpretation of world and national events as the result of competing cultures.
